Hi im from Mexico but due to some things i don't have nothing/no one left in here so im thinking about moving out of the country and i like London but i have some doubts. Can i work in there with only my passport?? An approximation of a cheap department/place to live?? Voting Question: Buying a Macbook Pro in US or UK? Vat?

So my hp laptops broken down and i need a new one as im a student and pretty much everything revolves around computers now. I am certain on getting the macbook pro summer 2009 version which is 899 pounds. As my laptop has broken down in only 2 years my mum wont pay for a new one so i need to scour for the best deals Ive been going through a few ideas already to save money but i am not sure about them. 1. I am going to New York in two weeks and i could buy it there cheaper then try to throw away all packaging and cheat customs 2. I heard that the apple stores give student discounts and free ipod touch but i am not sure if people under 18 are allowed, some people say the store allows it but the the online store doesnt? 3. I dont know if i can get a good deal at the duty free in the airport and i have some questions about it. If i buy it at the UK airport duty free will i have to pay vat when i return? What about at the US airport, vat when i return? 4. I asked one of their online "Genius'" about buying in the US and they said that i would already have paid tax in that state i am buying from so i would not pay vat when returning? Voting Question: Ford Fuel Pump Failure?

I have a mondeo tdci 03 uk. I was cruising on motorway at 70, when i proceeded to ovetake. As I hit about 75mph I felt like something had "popped" and it lost some power. The still drove thing and would still accelerate but just no kick as you would expect from a 2.0 litre tdci. When I restart the engine its fine and all is working again. I took it to quick fit and he attacthed his computer, I was told the fault was something like Fuel Pump Circuit Loop, Injectors Out Of Range. In Lamens terms he said I needed a new fuel pump and that Kwik Fit werent aloud to touch it. He gave me the number of a local garage (not sure if should be doing that) but he said it would be alot cheaper than the main dealer. Can anyone tell me how much I might be expected to pay ?No, I first thought of the turbo, but the code im getting from ems is related tp fuel pump, so how can it still be a turbo related problem ? more

Okay, in my previous questions I asked if I could upgrade my processor to a Dual core, I found I couldn't because of the pins and my Mobo. Then I asked if there was a cheap computer that would have decent specs that could play COD 4 and Assassins Creed. Now... I'm in the UK, I'm 15. I have £90 at the moment but in the next couple of months it should be a bit more (I get £40 in a few weeks, and my Birthday is in July). I want to make a decent pc that is cheap and effective. i am 16 male and i am very interested in computers, i have modified my PC a little: installed new graphics card, added heat sinks to the RAM and am thinking about getting new RAM chips. but what i really really want to do is try overclocking. i know that when you overclock a computer (PC or laptop) you need a good heat sink and possible increase the voltage. i dont want to ruin this new PC and i dont think old PC's are cheap. so is there a place in the UK i can get a very cheap old laptop. i know laptops are not the best to overclock as they cant dispell heat very well but i still want to try. even if i take it appart and put a giant heat sink on it and leave it open i just want to try overclocking. does anyone know a place that can supply me with a cheap laptop for testing?cant do Ebay. am under 18 and none of my family trusts ebay. more

hey there i have an HP Pavillion "HP a6305" computer (if that means anything). ive been using it for a good while now, mostly for internet socialising and gaming (WoW). the only thing ive ever changed on it is upgraded my hard drive to a much larger one than came with it when i bought it. however, i have made the decision to upgrade my computers graphics card, so my games can play a lot smoother (WoW currently gives me an average of 10fps, which ive never had a problem with, but thought it might be nice to upgrade). i have never done anything like this with a computer, and dont really know what to look for. i guess i need one that is compatible with my motherboard? so my question is, can anyone recomend a fairly decent, and relativly cheap graphics card, available in the UK, that will work on my computer as it stands? thanks for your time :) more

Resolved Question: Opticians won't let me have contacts until i'm 15?

I live in the UK & I'm 14 (15 in 5 months) and I don't think that my opticians know my true sight. They have a prescription for me but sometimes i can't even see the computer screen without squinting, yet they seem to think my eyesight isn't bad enough for contacts. They said if I do get them I can only wear them for 8 hours a day because I need air to get at my eyes. Also they are £30 a month.. quite a lot. Can you get them cheaper in stores? We've tried lots of opticians but they all say you have to be 15 although I have seen kids at like 12 wearing them :/. I don't play sport but am considering lying and saying I do just so they will give me them. I really need them for school because I hate my glasses and can't see the board. more

The program formally goes into effect today. The data retention rules require the archival of all email traffic (the identities of the sender and receiver, but not the contents of the messages), records of VOIP telephone calls (traditional phone calls are already monitored), and information about every website visited by any computer user in the country. The rules are being pushed down "across the board to even the smallest company," as every ISP large or small will be required to collect and store the data. That data will then be accessible -- to fight "crime and terrorism," of course -- by "hundreds of public bodies" to investigate whatever crimes they see fit. Technically the new directive applies to all countries of the EU, but individual nations appear to be complying with the rules to various degrees. Privacy-obsessed Sweden is reportedly ignoring the rule completely, for example. The privacy implications of the rule are enormous, as everything UK citizens do online will now be under the watchful eye of EU's powerful Home Office. One privacy advocate, whose anger is clearly barely being held back, called it "the kind of technology that the Stasi would have dreamed of." Naturally, the government counters that this kind of information has already proven invaluable in tracking down criminals, including the killer of an 11-year-old boy a couple of years ago. Privacy concerns aside, another issue becomes one of how exactly to manage all this data. A report dating back to 2004 estimated that a single, large ISP in the UK would need up to 40 million gigabytes of storage capacity to store the traffic data from a year of user activity.
