We can't afford to live here anymore and are working with the mortgage company so we can move out of here with as little backlash as possible. However we have no savings and cannot afford a deposit on an apartment along with the first month's rent. At the beginning of the year we booked a family vacation to San Diego and we did buy travel insurance, but they are telling us there is no guarantee that our claim will go through. At this point it's either we go on the vacation and lose the house and have no place for us and our children to live, or we find some way to cancel this trip so we have an apartment to move into. Does anyone know what I can do to make the travel insurance company work with us? I don't want my family to be homeless, please any advice is welcome. I need help bad!No I don't want "someone" to give me money. I want to cancel this trip that I realize now, shouldn't have been planned in the first place. The money we spent on this trip could easily take care of the deposit and first month's rent, which is what we would need to move into the apartment we looked at. I'm not looking for charity. their attorney didn't put in 2007 or 2008 taxes. They where told to bring those in in 10-14 days (which they did) and he would put it through. Wonderful Right? Wrong. The following week My brother in laws company put him on a "on call" list as he's a local trucker. His hours won't go back for 8 weeks. As that is when the new management in his firm takes over. So until the first of June they are only living off of what my sister brings in every 2 weeks and what he brings in every week (if he gets called in). So far he worked 2 days last week and 3 days this week. So my question is, What do they do about their house. They don't want to lose it. But at least till June money is super tight. Besides to move out means putting money in a mobile home to rent that right now they dont even have that. My brother in law is scared that if they tell their bankrupcy attorney. He will advice them to lose the house. But, in June he will start to bring in 600.00 take home if not more a week. They just need to get through May. They are so lost they don't know what to do. Resolved Question: How to temporary patch a round hole in my mobile home roof.?

While pulling monster tree limbs off of my roof, from an ice storm, I discovered my roof had been speared by a branch. the hole goes through the roof and is about 1 inch wide, straight through a shingle and the insulation. I was divorced last fall, in Texas, where I still reside. My attorney refused to ask my x for disclosure, so I did not know that my x had $15,000 in credit card debt. The divorce papers say she's liable for debts she incurred from the day I walked out on her, and for all debts that are in her name, which these 3 revolving accounts are. But, she hasn't paid and yesterday, after getting turned down for credit, I checked my credit online and found out that two of her credit card companies have put charge-offs on my credit, a third one is about to, because she's 190 days past due on it, and she never paid the phone bill so Embarq has put a charge-off on my credit, too, for $150, which is the least of my worries, but my credit score is barely over 400 now. Everything else on my credit shows "paid on time/as agreed". I've never made a late payment on anything my whole life. I'm considering bankruptcy, but I own two homes (one is a rent house, both are mobile homes). The industry I work in is winding down and I had planned on moving into the landlord business. I'd planned to purchase an RV park, not only as a new career, but as my only retirement income, as well. I'll be 50 years old in a few months. I don't have years left over to build more credit. Suing my x for whatever she owes me will not do any good, because she refuses to work, doesn't have a job skill and will surely never pay me once I win in court. My income is excellent, and I may make too much for Chapter 7. Also, one of my homes is in a mobile home park inside a city limits. My main home sits on 2 acres in a subdivision, outside of city limits. I'm concerned that if I file bankruptcy, I won't be able to keep both houses. I also have two cars. One is a junker that my X trashed and gave back to me while the divorce was still pending. I owe less than $2,000 on it. The other car is very nice, only 2 years old, and I owe a lot on it. Resolved Question: Need advise for injuries incurred.?

While on vacation in a private villa in the Carabian, I fell down several stairs (Thurs evening). We now know I crushed my healbone, broke my tailbone, fractured my L5 and broke my L1. We had travel insurance. To get to the island hospital, I had to be transported in the back of a pickup truck (no ambulance service) The hospital on the island we stayed at could only stitch up the heal, there was no xray facility. I was given enough pain killers and antibiotics to last 2 days. I was then transported back to the villa, in a borrowed wheelchair in the back of a pickup truck. My wife phoned the ins company for help. They would not do anything until they received faxed medical evidence of the injuries. They did say they would pay for the cab when we arrived at the next island to get to the xray clinic and doctor. My wife then had to transport me in the wheelchair in the back of a pickup truck once again, to the ferry terminal for a Friday 6:30am departure. I was allowed to stay in the wheelchair in the hull of the ferry for the duration of the ride. Once we arrived at 7:30am at the other island, a cab was there to meet us. We were to go to the xray clinic first and then the doctor. We waited in the cab from 7:30am to 8:30am for the clinic to open (I had a bag and towel under my foot as it was still bleeding even after the stiches) The xrays took till 11:30am to complete and we went to the doctors office immediatly only to find he was not in till after 1pm. My wife then rented a hotel room on the ground floor. The cab driver and my wife helped me in so I could lay horizontal while we waited for the doctor. 1pm came and the cab driver returned, and once again with the help of the driver and my wife helped me into the cab and then the doctors office. The above injuries were confirmed at the doctors office and all medical information was faxed to the ins. company (this was now 3pm). The doctor then casted the foot to help contain the bleeding for the trip home. The doctor requested crutches so that I would be more mobile, as my wife could not help much. We were out of cash. Medical supplies and prescriptions could not be bought with credit cards. After another lengthly journey in town trying to get cash and prescriptions etc, my wife finally said that was enough and had me returned to the hotel so that she could once again phone the ins. company and I could lay horizontal as I was in extreme pain. (Thank god the hotel had a resturant, so that we could have room service) The ins. company said someone would be there Sat mid morning to air lift us back home. My wife checked us out. Sat mid morning came and went. My wife called the ins.company again. They said they were having difficulties getting a bed for me in my home town hospital. Then said someone would be there for 6pm. At 5:30pm my wife paid the bill again, and had me ready for transport. At 5:40 the ins. company called and said someone would be there at about 11:00pm and we would be transported by air ambulance Sunday morning at 6am. The peramidic and nurse arrived at 10:30pm and checked me over. They said they would not put me in a neckbrace or backbrace until the morning. In the morning I was braced up, and transported home. When we finally arrived at our local hospital, no record was found of anyone trying to secure a bed for me at all. I was admitted into the emergency at 3pm Sunday. I had another set of xrays done, as no one even looked at the first set that I had with me. They redressed my heal and re casted it. At around 10:30pm I was finally admitted. Monday morning I went in for surgery to clean and restitch the wound as best they could for I was told my foot was first and foremost in concerns, and my back would be dealt with after. Resolved Question: State Farm Insurance says they will not cover my fence on my homeowners from hurricane HELP...?

I have recently been a victim of hurricane Ike. Now I have had my homeowners insurance with State Farm for quite a while. Well when Ike came through he blew down my fence beyond repair and in my deed restrictions I am required to have a fence. I live in a mobile home community and the hurricane took out several of our fences. When I made the claim to my insurance company (State Farm) they refused it on the basis (as well as I can determine) that it is not part of the immediate dwelling. I applied to fema.gov already but received no relief from them. I don't have $1500 to but the lumber much less the money to have it installed. Can they do this? Is there any type of ammunition I can use to fight this? I think this is total bs. Please somebody tell me how I can win against the greedy insurance company who likes to screw the little people. my friend got rear-ended on my bike and the at fault driver had no insurance. I received the police report and called both the mobile number and home number. at fault driver answered cell phone and i asked if he wants to come to an agreement on payment for repair bills. he said he called his insurance company and was waiting for them to call back, my insurance company informed me beforehand that he had no insurance. knowing this, I then asked for his insurance information. he hanged up on me. I tried calling him back a few times and apparently was avoiding me. I then called home number provided on police report and an elderly man answered. he had exact same name as at fault driver. informed him about motorcycle incident and he informed me that it could not have been anybody in his household for he does not even own a '92 white accord. same exact name, same address but different person. I was given false information on a police report and would like to know what are the penalties involved in this. should i report this to the police? after all these lies, I do intend to seek max penalties. hopefully he committed a felony. that would make my day.  more

We are currently ahead on our mortgage payments and have check copies and bank statements to prove it. Our taxes for the year are paid and we have insurance. We have not been late on payments but they claim we have (and have included late fees on our blance) Our mortgage company has just sent us a letter demanding we pay the entire principal (which in this letter is higher than the original amount of the loan was) or they will begin process to repossess. We are in a park so there is no land in our name. We have begun looking for a lawyer who can help us... but I believe this may just be futile going up against this company. We own an older mobile home on a little over 4 acres. We have recently had water damage to our home and it has to be condemned. The insurance company is not paying up so using a settlement is not an option (as of now). We are looking to get a new construction loan to build and I want to keep cost low. My father does excavation and will do all the work needed for the job. A friend of ours is a plumber and is doing that work at the cost for materials. I also have a small crew of contruction workers (4 or 5 family and friends) who are willing to put up their weekend hours to help to the job. Along with a brother in law for siding (free). We were going to pay for the foundation out of pocket, along with material cost for the plumbing and of course my father doing the excavation. I tld a mortage broker my plans and she told me not to do anything. WHY? Wouldnt it be better to get what I can get done first then ask for a loan? We still owe 46,000 on the property, and I dont want a mortage....that we cant afford. I have water damage in my home. I called and reported the claim, my insurance company is out of town so they have to have an adjuster call me monday. Im not sure what will happen. Im worried that they will write a check for under the amount because it is a mobile home. The thing about it is everything in a mobile home is different from a regular (well at least in the older ones). We just replaced our floor and now it is ruined. My small bathroom is completly damaged, but it wasnt in great condition to start with. How does this work? Im about to just give up on this place. do alliance insurance cover mobile fone theft and loss? or like some insurance companies do they cover only theft? i know loss can appear as negligence on owners part so insurance companies do not pay. i had my mobile in my bag and i was on a packed train. i was standing and my bag was at my feet on floor beside me. when i got home 2 hours later i discovered my mobile and wallet was gone. i checked with trains and nothing was handed in. ive cancelled my cards and fone but im just scared incase they say i was negligent for not keeping it in my sight. I just got my renewal and my HO insurance went from $1200/year to 2900! How is this possible, I called my agent and he stated that due to Katrina everyone insurance on the gulf increased. I called around to see if someone else could insure me. But had no luck, no one wants to insure us, I have never filed a claim! My house is being insured for more than I paid for it. I was told I could save $350 if i had additional security. when i called the security companies they charge well over $350. Its crazy, what can be done I can not afford these new premiums. Resolved Question: KY Business improperly installed a-coils which caused condensation to drain into my home instead of out drain?

This caused all my subfloors to become water damaged in the four rooms surrounding the a/c unit. All four rooms need parts of the floors replaced as well as some drywall from the connector walls. Another contracter came out and showed us that the slope was wrong on the coil causing the condensation to pool in the rear of the unit and overflow into the subfloors beneath the unit. I conntacted the business about the issue and the owner came out, corrected the slope (I took pics as proof) and then denied liability and refuses to pay for the damages or turn it over to his insurance company. I am not very well off and cannot afford an attorney. My state's small claim cap is $1500 which is only about 1/3 of the total damages. Most contractor's in my area won't even touch it because it is a mobile home, but the two that will want almost $4500 to replace all the damaged structures. Does anyone know if I have any other recourse not previously mentioned, or am I out of luck because I am poor? more

I work for a small yet top-heavy (I have 3 bosses - and the company is only 7 employees including them) marketing services firm as a web developer. I have various skills & experience including design and programming. Resolved Question: My home owners insurance company isnt wanting to pay out for our mobile home that shifted from a tornado.?

We where hit by a tornado 3 weeks ago. Our insurance company keeps saying that we dont have 39,000 dollars worth of damage. But yet they want us to replace everything all the way across the front and down one side. The floor all the way thru the mobile home is messed up. The master bathroom is got to be redone completely. I need a new roof because it has a leak. But the adjuster says because she cant see a hole that more than likely they wont pay to have it fixed. Wouldnt it be cheaper for them to total it out? Should i take legal action? Sorry this was so long.The adjuster said that the roof was so well cool sealed that she couldnt find a hole. The wind damage put holes from one end to the other and busted out 3 windows. From the wind shifting the trailer the flooring poping up everywhere. When you walk across it you can feel where its uneven.Plus my camper was pushed into the outside near the master bathroom puting holes in the wall. It also pushed the bathroom counter forwards. I'd like to find out decent rates for insurance in the NC area. What is a good level of insurance for a family of 4 in a double wide mobile home? We don't live lavishly but have some extra electronics to consider. Will I have to provide detailed information about each and every thing I insure? I also had a concern. From what I'm reading of other questions, they do a credit check. I'm concerned that in order for many different companies to give me comparable rates that my credit will be hit several times. My mom and dad was told yesterday that a woman was giving away her double wide and all they had to do was move it off there land. The reason she is giving it away is cause a tree limb fell on it and the roof caved in. The insurance company paid the house off (there wasnt much owing on it) and got her a new place and the insurance company said to do whatever she wants with it. We are really needing this house and our bank will let my parents borrow the money to get the roof fixed (my dad estimated the cost on it to be 3000) and to move it which wont be that much cause its not that far away. My question is: If the insurance paid the mobile home off doesnt it belong to them and would they just tell her to do what she wants with it? It sounds to good to be true and in our case it would be a miracle as being we are living in a 1967 single wide which is falling apart as I type? Thankswell the reason why we are getting a mobile home instead of renting a apartment is cause my parents own over a acre and a half. once the tree limb fell on it they covered it up. we've been inside it and its a very good mobile home. they re-done the flooring in it about 4 months ago. its about 98 model home i think! more
